In 1898 Daniel B. Parkhurst
wrote that the greatest teacher of art is nature and that you should surround
yourself with nature in addition to seeking out skilled artists.
Here at Schaefer Studios we
are surrounded by nature from the lakeshore and small creek to the waterfall
and pond that we built with boulders weighing up to five tons each. It
is also stocked with water lilies and aquatic references. A nice mix of
trees and native plants as well as the occasional migratory visitor add
to this idyllic setting. We are privileged to be able to enjoy our craft
in a state of the arts studio located on a five-acre site surrounded by
water and woods with additional quarters for other creative tenants. There
is a full frame shop, wood working shop, limited welding and iron cutting,
a dark room, and the newest technology in large format printing and digital
processing.
